“So, before the end of this month, we will now be able to get a direction on how we can also plan for the rest of the year.” Nigeria IWF Wrestling WrestlingCalendar
NWF President, Daniel Igali, said on Tuesday that the NWF would wait for the outcome of the International Wrestling Federation meeting to fit in their programmes for the rest of the year, as the COVID-19 pandemic eases out.
Igali told The Guardian, “The NWF for now doesn’t have any plan yet for the remaining months of this year. At the end of this month, the international federation will make a decision. It’s after their decision that we will then now know how to tailor our plan according to the decision taken. So far, nothing is happening anywhere.
“So, before the end of this month, we will now be able to get a direction on how we can also plan for the rest of the year,” he said, adding that the athletes in the country are undergoing a supervised long physical training. It is not all gloom as Igali revealed that the lockdown has helped some of the athletes to recover from injuries.
