Women in Bauchi State have embraced Adult Education with the support from their husbands. Speaking to journalists at a one-day workshop held by the United Nations Children’s Education Funds, UNICEF, yesterday, in partnership with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, some of the women expressed gratitude TO their husbands.

DAILY POST reports that the workshop is to build the capacity of women to accelerate more enrollment of Bauchi women into acquiring basic education, in line with the International Women’s Day Celebration held in Bauchi with the theme “Invest in Women” The workshop is also in partnership with the Office of the First Lady, the State Universal Education Board and the Bauchi State Agency for Mass Education, BASAME.

“ Until now, I only had a Secondary School Certificate but my husband encouraged me to enrol in one of the informal learning centres for women Adult Education and I have gained a lot from it. Now I can help my children with their assignments at home” she said. ‘ This is not the only training I have attended, I have attended several others too” she added Another beneficiary, Asamu Aliyu Idris said her husband's support made her seek a return to school.
