The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has opposed the All Peoples Congress (APC) zoning of principal officers of the Senate and the House of Representatives. Ohanaeze described the allocation of the Deputy Speaker to the South East of Nigeria as unreflective, disgusting and provocative to the Igbo. The apex Igbo body stated this in statement issued on Friday in Enugu, which was signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr Alex Ogbonnia.

The statement reads:"The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has watched with grave concern the zoning of principal officers of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
"The Ohanaeze Ndigbo states that allocating the position of the Deputy Speaker to the South East is highly unreflective, disgusting and provocative to the Igbo.
