Babylon 5: The Road Home is closing in on its July release date but does the animated film fit into the original series’ canon, and if so, how?
J. Michael Straczynski only just recently announced his latest project, the animated Babylon 5: The Road Home, which comes out August 2023 and is yet another installment of the 1990s space opera Babylon 5, but the question remains: how does this film fit into the canon. Babylon 5 is a sci-fi series that premiered in 1994 and ran for five seasons following the human inhabitants of a space station called Babylon 5.
Babylon 5: The Road Home Is Canon To The TV Show First and foremost, Babylon 5 is canon to the original 1994 television series. It includes the same characters with the same members of the Babylon 5 cast voicing their roles, besides those who are no longer alive. In particular, Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy, Tracy Scoggins, and Patricia Tallman will reprise their original roles.
Babylon 5: The Road Home Is Not Connected To The Upcoming Reboot Although Babylon 5: The Road Home is directly connected to the original series, it is not correlated with the Babylon 5 reboot show that was announced by Straczynski in 2021. While Babylon 5: The Road Home continues the adventures of John Sheridan and his crew, the Babylon 5 reboot will completely remake the series with a new cast. However, Straczynski is still attached to the project as a producer.
