Irish people living on the Hawaiian island of Maui are selflessly "hunkering down and helping" out as best they can - despite several losing everything.
One of the wildfires was a quarter of a mile away from where Mike lives and works but disaster was avoided when winds shifted and the fire moved sideways. The Cork man, who moved to the paradise island in 2016 with his wife Stephanie Evans, has been caught up in the aftermath of an inferno that has killed at least 36 people.
