Rivers United’s attempt to sign Kelly Kester has been thwarted by Bendel Insurance after the Benin Arsenals put up a package that met the demands of the midfielder.
The former Enyimba midfielder is expected to meet with officials of the 2023 Federation Cup winner in Benin to finalise his move. The news will come as a big blow for the Pride of Rivers, who had expected to fortify the team in their bid to improve their performance in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
Rivers United had previously made offers to Kester as their priority target and seemed in pole position to get their man, but an improved and concrete bid from Bendel Insurance had ended their pursuit.Bendel Insurance will feature in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
