The Nation Newspaper Insecurity: Oyebanji calls for synergy between forest guards, security agencies
, has called for synergy between forest guards and security agencies to flush out kidnappers and other criminals that are using Ekiti forests as hideouts.
Oyebanji said that his government had mapped out strategies in partnership with some stakeholders to increase forest potential of Ekiti for improved economy, ecosystem and atmospheric condition that could bring about healthy living and prolonged life expectancy of the people. The governor, represented by his Deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, spoke yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital during this year’s edition of International Day of Forests and passing out of the 50 newly recruited forestry officials.Oyebanji said that the newly employed officials, as part of efforts to address the ugly trend in deforestation and illegal activities of criminals in the forests included 22 foresters, 18 boundary men and 10 technicians.
