The Osun State Government has warned tricycle operators in the state to ensure they have all the necessary documents for their vehicles. The state government issued this warning through a statement by Yakubu Adejare, the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Transportation, on Thursday in Osogbo.
The government urged the tricycle operators to obtain documents such as a hackney permit, roadworthiness certificate, and vehicle license. The directive was revealed due to recent intelligence indicating that tricycle operators were being used by criminals to wreak havoc on unsuspecting innocent residents of the state. The government also revealed that these operators usually go scot-free because they do not have any registered particulars with the transport ministry.
The state government warned that violators of this directive will henceforth be made to pay full penalties, as operating a tricycle without the necessary documents is now regarded as a traffic offense. The statement reads in part: 'We have recently discovered that many tricycle operators in Osun State are on the roads without the necessary documents. It is regarded as a traffic offense henceforth.
