The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disclosed that a total of 2,062 officials will participate in tomorrow’s bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency. Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Adeniran Rahmon Tella, made this declaration during a press briefing in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The bye-election became necessary following the death of the former occupant of the seat, Hon Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi, who died last year. Addressing journalists, Tella said the election would take place in all 12 electoral wards that make up the federal constituency. He stated that 217, 980 prospective voters had collected their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs. Tella further explained that the election would be conducted in all 512 polling units in the constituency.

, in the state has said it has deployed a total of 600 personnel for the election. Commandant, Augustine Padonu, made this known during a briefing in Ibadan. He said the command would collaborate with other security agencies to ensure a rancour-free election. Padonu added that the command would also work with INEC to uphold the integrity of the process. He said: “As part of our efforts, we will ensure the protection of lives and properties, as well as the safeguarding of critical national assets and infrastructure.
