The Lagos State Government has decried the attitude of some residents to public hygiene.
Commenting on the level of compliance to campaign against open defecation in the state, the commissioner noted that the lack of discipline and attitudinal reactions of the people made residents not subscribe to the call by the state government,
He added that the initiative was part of the government’s efforts to achieve one of the themes set in the Sustainable Development Goals. He said, “It is a matter of attitude. Some of our people lack the discipline to use public toilets to defecate. So, what we do is set up advocacy and encourage both public and private sectors collaboration in providing the public facility.”
“There are so many of them around where people can pay as low as N100 to use the toilets. It is convenient and something we encourage people to use because it is part of the Sustainable Development Goals that we have pledged to.”All rights reserved.
