PUTRAJAYA: Childcare centres will get a 20% discount off their electricity bill if they register with the Social Welfare Department (JKM), says Hannah Yeoh.
The Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister said at present, only an estimated 11.9% of existing childcare centres were registered with JKM.
Yeoh said she acknowledged that the operating costs could be high, especially with the implementation of a minimum wage.“By being registered, it allows better monitoring of these centres to ensure better safety and well-being of the children,” said Yeoh. Separately, Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin said her ministry has set aside RM10mil for the purpose of giving the discount.
