Imo: Uzodinma sent thugs to attack Ajaero’s village, assassinate him

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State of sending thugs to attack the village of its president, Joe Ajaero. NLC's Head of Media and Information, Benson Upah, alleged that Uzodinma sent the thugs to assassinate Ajaero on Saturday.

Upah claimed that the attack on Azalla Owalla in Emekuku, the hometown of the NLC president, was “carried out under the misguided belief that Comrade Ajaero was still present, recovering from injuries inflicted by the police and hired thugs.” In a statement issued on Sunday, Upah said last week's attack on Ajaero was an attempt to suppress and brutalize the NLC president.

The statement reads in part: “In a shocking turn of events, on the morning of November 4th, 2023, Governor Hope Uzodimma once again demonstrated his utter disregard for human rights and democratic principles by invading and attacking the community of Azalla Owalla in Emekuku, Owerri, Imo State, the hometown of NLC President.
