The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has warned that all consultancy firms not contracted by the state Internal Revenue Service will be arrested and prosecuted.
This is coming 24 hours after firm, Femieral Resources Limited, contracted by the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission issued a circular mandating all hostel owners in the state to pay N180,000 levy into a designated account for fumigation.
But in a statement disowning the firm, the state government warned that any firm that did not have the approval of IRS will be arrested and prosecuted. The state commissioner for Information and strategy, Declan Emelumba, said, in a statement, “Any request for payment of government revenue into any account outside the IRS TSA account is criminal and any person or organisation indicted of making such demands runs the risk of arrest and prosecution.”All rights reserved.
