Governor Okezie Ikpeazu will on Friday, swear in the acting Chief Judge of Abia State, Justice Lillian Abai, as the substantive Chief Judge of the State.
A release from the Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to the Governor, Onyebuchi Ememanka, said that the acting Chief Judge is coming after the National Judiciary Council, NJC, and the Abia State House of Assembly duly confirmed her.
It would be recalled that members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, Abia State chapter have been on strike in the last three weeks over the non-confirmation of Justice Abai as Abia’s substantive Chief Judge, among other demands. The strike, which has crippled activities in the State judiciary, made the election petitions tribunal at the Umuahia High Court complex relocate to another venue.
