The Abia State Government on Tuesday said family members of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu were free of COVID-19.
Ikpeazu’s Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, and the Commssioner for Information Chief John Kalu, had on confirmed on Monday that the governor tested positive for the virus, adding that he had handed over to the Deputy Governor, Ude Chukwu.
When contacted on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Health, Joe Osuji; Secretary to the State Government and Chairman, state Covid-19 committee, Chris Ezem, Kalu, and Ememanka, refused to disclose where the governor was receiving treatment. There have been reports that Ikpeazu had relocated to Abuja for treatment, but the aides did not confirm it.Also, Ememanka said, “Contact tracing is on and no members of the immediate family is positive.”All rights reserved.
