The Indigenous People of Biafra has refuted the claim that it declared a one-week sit-at-home exercise across the South-East.
Rumours of a weeklong sit-at-home, starting from July 3 to July 10 has been circulating in the social media and across the region. In the audio message which has been circulating for a few days, the promoters claimed that the exercise tagged, “#FreeNnamdiKanu”, is a move geared towards forcing the Federal Government to release IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of States Services.
The promoters of the audio message vowed that there would be dire consequences for anyone who dared to step out on the said dates. But while dismissing the audio message in a statement on Wednesday, the spokesman for IPOB, Emma Powerful, dissociated the pro-Biafran group from it, saying the message did not emanate from the group.
