The Red Devils are believed to be keen on sealing a deal for Borussia Dortmund winger Sancho this summer after the 20-year-old registered another brilliant season in the Bundesliga.
It’s understood that Sancho remains the priority signing for Solskjaer. But instead of splashing more cash on a new striker, it seems the loan extension for Ighalo and the promise of teenager Greenwood could instead fill the void left by the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez almost a year ago.
Then, Solskjaer hopes that 18-year-old Greenwood, who has shown bags of potential this term, will have developed enough to take up Ighalo’s mantle, meaning the club may not have to spend big on the likes of Harry Kane or Erling Braut Haaland after all.“I’m really happy,” he told the club’s website. “It’s a dream for me to be here. I’m buzzing and ready to go.
“I decided I want to stay and I’m happy. Since the first day I arrived, I made it clear that I wanted whatever it takes to continue that work. It was very difficult, there were some talks, but I’m happy they finally agreed and got everything done. Everything is official now.
