Meanwhile, another of Igboho’s counsels, Yemi Alliyu , yesterday, dragged the Attorney General of the Federation , the DSS and the State Director of the secret police before an Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, the state capital, seeking the enforcement of the fundamental rights of the activist.

In the summons notice made available to The Guardian by Alliyu in Ibadan, the counsel said the enforcement of Igboho’s fundamental rights was expedient in the view of the invasion of his house on July 1, 2021, by men of the DSS, leading to the killing of two of his supporters and arrest of 11 aides. The activist is demanding a sum of N500 billion as damages and another N500 million as special damages. Alliyu also wants the court to direct the respondents “to tender public apology in two national dailies, to wit The Nation and Punch newpapers for breaching the fundamental rights of the Applicant.”

In all, he is seeking 16 reliefs, including a declaration that the invasion was malicious and oppressive.
