The Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, yesterday, said that the institution was partnering with renowned Ukrainian universities to train Nigerian students displaced

Ezemonye spoke during the 21st inaugural lecture of the institution delivered by a Professor of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Prof. Pauline Ekemma Aligwekwe, on topic, “The Significance of the Interaction between Science/Technology and Religion in Society. Can Science stand in Apposition to religion in a situation of high religious consciousness?”

Ezemonye said that the programme would be under strict compliance with National Universities Commission guidelines on transnational education. “This is with particular reference to students currently displaced by the ongoing war in Ukraine. The universities include V.N Karazin Kharkiv University, Ivano-Frankivsk University and Lviv University of Business and Law in Ukraine,” he said.

The Professor of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Forensics also commended the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for re-accrediting her MBBS programme for another five years and an approved increase in medical students’ admission quota from 75 to 120 following a successful accreditation exercise.

Ezemonye, who noted that the inaugural lecture was apt, said by nature inaugural lecture provided a professor with the opportunity to showcase and inform colleagues, the university community and the public of his or her works to date, including research and future plans.
