The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Nigeria Chapter, has begun the training of artisans in the built environment.
The two-day forum, which was in collaboration with the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation , exposed participants on the elements of facility management; understanding importance of artisan in the housing sector, the role of artisans in operations and maintenance of a serviced apartments.
Speaking at the workshop entitled, “A Day with the Artisan” IFMA Nigeria President, Segun Adebayo, explained that the training was part of the capacity building strategy to bring their skills to international standards.Speakers at the workshop included, the first IFMA fellow in Africa, Mr. Stephen Jagun, past presidents, Iyabo Aboaba and Sheriff Daramola.
Adebayo said: “The programme is aimed at educating the artisans on how to improve quality of job delivery and ensure better service delivery to the corporation. We will also be deploying our experienced faculty to transfer knowledge to them in their specialists and other areas in the built environment.”
Managing Director, LSDPC, Dhikrullah Har-Yusuph, lauded IFMA for the initiative, stressing the need for excellence in property development and management. Har-Yusuph, who said the role of artisans was critical to the success of facility management in the state, urged them to take full advantage of the forum.
