Festus Keyamo, former minister of state for labour, says it has filed an appeal to challenge a court ruling dismissing his money laundering suit against Atiku Abubakar.

a federal high court in Abuja dismissed the money laundering case against Abubakar, former vice-president.

In a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/84/2023, Keyamo asked the court for an order compelling Abubakar “to submit himself to the Code of Conduct Bureau , Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for thorough investigation”. Keyamo had alleged that Abubakar, while in office as vice-president from 1999 to 2007, used a bank account belonging to a company named Marine Float, and other accounts of two undisclosed companies, as “special purpose vehicles ”.The former minister alleged that Abubakar used the SPVs to secretly divert and misappropriate public funds.

In a statement on Tuesday, John Anietor, assistant head of Keyamo chambers, said the former minister would not “back down” on the case.“Earlier today, Mr Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, filed an appeal against the ruling of the Hon. Justice J.K Omotosho of the federal high court dismissing his suit which sought to compel law enforcement agencies to investigate Atiku Abubakar over the SPV saga,” the statement reads.

“We have raised an initial four grounds of appeal with a possibility of raising additional grounds of appeal.”
