The Governor of Niger, Abubakar Sani Bello, on Tuesday disclosed that the state has spent over N470m to fight banditry and insecurity.

He bemoaned the rate with which bandits are terrorising the state, and how they had refused all the gestures by the state government to speak with them.

It should be recalled that in the last two weeks, bandits had invaded and attacked over 10 communities in the state, dispossessing the innocent people of their property and running them out of their homes.“The security situation in Niger State is becoming worrisome; however, the government is determined to ensure that the insecurity is addressed and brought down to its barest minimum,” the governor had said.

“These bandits have become more daring. We have used every opportunity to dialogue with them, but those in the Pandogari axis have refused to listen to dialogue. Instead, they have become more daring, armed and dangerous.
