I have five children from five women. I know I am under spell. These were the words a 32-year-old commercial driver who is on trial for allegedly battering his 18-month-old son in Osogbo, Osun State.
Police Prosecutor, Abiodun Fagboyinbo, told the court that on 24 May 2020 around 1:30pm at Okinni Area, assaulted the victim “aged one year and six months by beating him with stick and cigarette light to the extent he sustained injury all over his body.”The offences committed were said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 33 of the Child Rights Law of Osun State Nigeria, as well as Section 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. II. Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2002.
Answering questions from the court, Adeyemo said he was under a spell and mentioned his mother as the person behind his ordeal.“I have five children from five women. I know I am under spell. I have consulted several pastors, who told me that my mother is responsible for my situation. I am a commercial driver.
