A Nigerian-born and trained physician, Dr Stella Emmanuel, is trending on social media after delivering an emotional COVID-19 speech in the United States on Monday.
Speaking at a news conference in Washington, Emmanuel claimed that hydroxychloroquine, zinc and Zithromax were effective cures for the virus.
Emmanuel dismissed experts’ warning that hydroxychloroquine could cause serious heart problems for coronavirus patients, citing her experience with the use of the drug. “So I’m actually used to these medications. I’m here because I have personally treated over 350 patients with COVID-19. Patients that have diabetes, patients that have high blood pressure, patients that have asthma, old people … I think my oldest patients are 92 … 87-year-olds.
“We’ve not lost one patient. And on top of that, I’ve put myself, my staff, and many doctors that I know on hydroxychloroquine for prevention, because by the very mechanism of action, it works early and as a prophylaxis. “I know they don’t want to open schools. No, you don’t need people to be locked down. There is prevention and there is a cure.”
