. The vibrant shade is descended from the red family but rooted in nature, which the colour experts described as “powerful and empowering… brave and fearless… a new signal of strength”.
The forecasters at the company's colour consultancy institute have been naming a colour of the year for more than 20 years - predicting 2021’s ‘Ultimate Grey’ and 2022’s ‘Very Peri’. Now, they say to make way for next year's"animated red", which will undoubtedly become a trend in the world of fashion, beauty and home.
Each year the team of colour experts examine colour psychology and colour trend research that connects to the mood of the times and corresponds it with the colour family. “From there, we drill down further to identify the exact right shade,” said the institute's Vice President Laurie Pressman about the selection process.
"It is a colour we see crossing all areas of design; a colour that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude on the part of the consumers, a colour that will resonate around the world, a colour that reflects what people are looking for, a colour that can hope to answer what they feel they need."
