The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has explained how vandals again destroyed its 330-kilovolt Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri Transmission line. The spokesperson of TCN, Ndidi Mbah, made this known in a statement on Sunday.
This comes after DAILY POST earlier reported that Boko Haram destroyed the transmission line barely three weeks after restoration. The incident had thrown Damaturu , the capital of Yobe State and Maiduguri in Borno State out of power supply. Giving details of the incident, TCN confirmed: 'The line was brought down by vandal on Saturday, 21st September 2024, at about 1:44 am.
'This time, the vandals cut off all four tower footing, resulting in the collapse of tower T372 along the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri section, which was discovered by TCN's linesmen deployed on emergency patrol. 'Following this destructive attack, the effort is ongoing by TCN's engineers in the interim to back feed Damaturu through a 33-kv transmission line from Potiskum, while Maiduguri town will be fed from the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant .
