House to Investigate N5.4trn AMCON Debt via thisdaylive

The House of Representatives Wednesday mandated its Committee on Banking and Currency to investigate the debt portfolio of N5.4 trillion owed the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria and the alleged unwillingness of some of the debtors to pay.

Another mandate given the Banking Committee was that it should evaluate the status of the debts and the practical, legal and other strategies for its recovery, including recommending a time frame, and other options such as the amendment of the AMCON Act, and report back within three weeks for further legislative action.
