The Catholic Bishops spoke in a communique issued at the end of the second plenary meeting, held in Abuja, and signed by the President, Archbishop Lucius Ugorji and Secretary, Bishop Donatus Ogun.
Noting that Nigerians have been subjected to a life of poverty, hunger, hardship and suffering, the bishops declared that the conditions has been aggravated by the removal of fuel subsidy “which has led to high cost of food items, transportation and meeting up with other essential needs”. “We called on governments at all levels to provide the enabling environment for the creation of more jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in Nigeria. Government should put in place measures that will curb the persistence theft of oil and other minerals.
