A lot of establishments will be close on Sunday to ring in 2023 — but not all. Here’s what’s open and closed in Toronto on New Year’s Day.

New Year’s Day is a public holiday in Ontario, meaning many services and stores may be closed on Sunday.

H-Mart and T&T Supermarket locations across the GTA will be open on Sunday. Rabba Fine Food locations will also be open.The Queens Quay — Ferry Docks station will be closed from 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 until 2 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2023. According to, the 509 Harbourfront and 510 and 310 Spadina routes will bypass the station to avoid overcrowding before, during and after the city’s fireworks show.
