Despite looking like things were getting back to normal, the Helldivers 2 account linking saga is not over following latest announcement.
There has been a lot of uncertainty within the Helldivers 2 community over the past few days following Sony’s announcement that all players would need to link a PSN account to Steam to keep playing. Thankfully, this requirement has been backtracked and won’t be going ahead following the massive backlash from the community which included Helldivers 2 becoming the most negatively reviewed paid game on Steam.
There are still ongoing discussions between parties about the details and we at Arrowhead acknowledge and respect that it will take some time to sort those out. We therefore kindly ask of you, our cherished community, hardcore helldivers and precious players, to try to be patient as well. As soon as we learn more we’ll post an update here.” The good news is that the decision to not go forward with mandatory account linking is still in effect.
