Oliver Quinn, from Salford, has won a place at the Royal Ballet School
A young male ballet dancer who was bullied for his passion has been accepted into one of the best ballet schools in the world.
Oliver, who lives in Salford, went on to attend Centre Pointe performing arts centre before moving on to Vale Studios. The teasing became so bad his parents were forced to move him to a different primary school where it thankfully came to a stop. The schoolboy filled out an application form and spent 18 months training six days a week for his audition.
“Right through primary school he’s been bullied. He used to come home upset. But it’s made him stronger; it made him want to do it more. “It’s been really difficult because it’s a very female-dominated environment and he’s had a really tough time with people picking on him for doing ballet. He expressed he wanted to go to a ballet school and he trained six days a week for 18 months just to try and get in.”
