A pensioner who has scooped a crash prize says he'll be using it to keep warm through the winter. David Upton, 75, from Derbyshire , has won £305 on the Picky My Postcode lottery.

Chancellor for the Exchequer Rachel Reeves explained the new government would need to make the cut to help fill the £22bn black hole deficit found in the budget after taking over from the Conservative government in July earlier this year.And David said he would be putting the money aside to ensure he could cover his bills, Derbyshire Live reports. He said he has been checking the lottery's website daily since he joined seven years ago in 2017.

This led to a win of £250, but with his additional bonus of £56.53 the pensioner said he would be able to fully cover the lost winter fuel allowance amount.
