Chelsea Women’s manager Emma Hayes will leave the English champions at the end of the season, the club confirmed Saturday, amid reports she is poised to be named United States coach.The 47-year-old has also won five FA Cups, two League Cups, the Spring Series trophy and the Community Shield with Chelsea’s women.
Multiple reports in the US said on Saturday that Hayes is in advanced negotiations with the United States Soccer Federation with her appointment set to be confirmed imminently.The US are currently coached by interim boss Twila Kilgore, who took over from Vlatko Andonovski following the Americans’ last-16 exit at the World Cup.
But she believes holding a top job in the women’s game should never be seen as a stepping stone into men’s football.
