Gus and Freddy's Origin selection 'guarantee' 9WWOS NRL
"Keary, they were very keen on Keary last year; and this is before he went out and won a grand final on his own and being the star player right through the six or eight weeks. How do you leave him out of a team? Where does he go?
"It'll be interesting. I don't think Cleary's under any pressure; I think it will be a matter as to whether [it's] Keary or Maloney. "Personally, I think it's still a young team and it's going to needs that old head. James Maloney was very important to that team in the first couple of games last year, really important.
"I think that's the battle now: as to whether Keary forces Maloney out, because I believe they'll stick with Cleary, and rightfully so. Personally, I still think the team needs another year with James Maloney; they need to exhaust that."Gould predicted that Maloney might have a single game to prove he still belonged in Origin."He'll have to go into Origin I and win it, because the minute he goes into Origin and they don't win it, Keary will be straight in.
"If Jimmy or Cleary's form doesn't improve, I've got no doubt he will be there. But I think at this point in time, them boys [Cleary and Maloney] have got a foot in the door and they need to keep it."
