Unidentified gunmen, yesterday, invaded a police checkpoint in Akabo, Ikeduru Local Council of Imo State, killing two operatives and a civilian.
Confirming the development, the police spokesperson in the state, Henry Okoye, said the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, had visited the scene alongside top officers.
“The Commissioner has also set up a high-powered team and tasked it with carrying out a comprehensive investigation to unravel the perpetrators. Following recent moves by some groups mobilising for a mass protest nationwide, the Nigeria Police Force has warned Nigerians against destruction of public infrastructure. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, would jointly undertake rehabilitation of Nigerian girls rescued from Ghana who are victims of human trafficking.
