Gunmen, at the weekend, invaded a meeting ground in Umucheke Okwe Onuimo Local Council of Imo State and killed the President General of the autonomous community, Hyginus Ohazuruike, and six other village heads.
According to sources, the community leaders were holding a meeting at the late Ohazuruike’s shop in the community’s market when the hoodlums arrived in a truck, brandishing guns. After the act, they left unchallenged.
The Guardian learnt that a similar incident had happened in the community not long ago when some hoodlums killed the ward chairman of the All Progressives Congress and seven others. Lagos State government has intervened in the sexual assault saga involving a female employee of ARM Pension Managers Ltd and her male colleague following an official party of the firm.
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has sent an “urgent appeal” to the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland, urging her to apply the Commonwealth Charter to hold the Nigerian authorities to account over reports of attacks on #EndHunger protesters and journalists covering the protests in parts of the country.
Joseph Ayo Babalola University , Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, at the weekend, said that it had begun the production of silk wigs for lawyers in the country.
