Gunmen have killed Mr Benjamin Ekom, a septuagenarian retried information officer with the Akun Development Area in the Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen stormed Ekom’s house in Washo, in the Akun Development Area of the state around 12am on Tuesday and killed him.
Our correspondent learnt that the gunmen shot into the air, forcing the residents of the area to scamper for safety. Ekom’s killing came weeks after two siblings related to a former Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, were murdered in Gudi, the country home of Governor Abdullahi Sule. Ekom, until his death, was a member of the Federated Chapel. He was also a former Treasurer of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa State chapter.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the traditional ruler of the community, the Aren Akun, Alhaji Usman Galadima-Umbugadu, said, “Yes, it is true that my subject, who served as the ECDA secretary was attacked and killed in his house in Washo community by gunmen. This is unfortunate, barbaric and uncalled for.”All rights reserved.
