Yet-to-be-identified gunmen have kidnapped a Plateau State First class traditional ruler, the Agwom Izere, His Royal Highness Dr. Isaac Azi Wakili.
The Monarch was reportedly kidnapped on Friday morning at his Palace situated in the Shere District of Jos East and taken to an unknown place. The assailants stormed the palace and engaged the security personnel attached to the palace shooting sporadically. Two security officers sustained varied degrees of injury even as the gunmen overwhelmed them and took away the traditional ruler.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Command Public Relations officer DSP Alfred Alabo noted that a tactical team had been deployed to Izere land to rescue the kidnapped.
