The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says a total of one million, nine hundred and thirty-two thousand, six hundred and fifty four, (1,932,654) registered voters are expected to take part in the November 11th Governorship election in Kogi State.
Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Kogi State, Gabriel Longpet stated this at the presentation of the voter register to enlighten political party representatives in Lokoja. Longpet said the presentation of the Voter Register was very significant in the schedule of INEC ahead of the November 11th Governorship election as it would help political parties know the number of registered voters in each Local Government Area of the state.
While assuring that every eligible voter would have the liberty to vote for their choice of candidate without intimidation from anyone, Professor Sani called on the electorates to come out en mass to exercise their franchise as INEC would do its best to ensure a free, fair and credible election where every vote cast would count. He added that the commission would work with security agencies to ensure that populated polling units were well secured to avoid disruption.
