Group to Obaseki: Stop 2nd term campaign, focus on Gelegele seaport project vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
While faulting the ongoing celebration by the state government over the 24 House of Assembly seats won by the All Progressives Congress in Edo State which according to the government was the first time such feat was achieved in the state, the group asserted it was an indication that neither the governor nor his handlers are conversant with the political history of the state.
The group in a statement signed by its Director of Publicity, Dr Calistus Osamoyi, reminded that ” during the administration of governor Lucky Igbinedion, the PDP won the entire 24-member House of Assembly and that was why Patrick Obahiagbon, was referred as Leader of the House then instead of Majority Leader since the minority party then which was ANPP did not have a member in the House. This was during the second term of governor Igbinedion 2003-2007.
“So the state government should stop celebrating 24/24 as if it was the first time it happened. We urge the governor to stop this campaign for a second term and focus on completing the Gelegele sea port project which he promised. Because we are worried that up till now nothing has happened in the site, the same way weed has taken over the proposed industrial park site after over 20 communities donated their lands for the project.
“All these noise about 24/24 is unnecessary because every body knows that if not for the doggedness of Oshiomhole and his person, APC would have died in Edo state. The members of the State Assembly won their elections due to their connections with their constituents and not because of Obaseki because Edo people are yet to see any meaningful achievement so far apart from what we saw during the administration of Oshiomhole” it stated.
