Amid the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in Luzon, a labor group reminded employers that employees have the "right to refuse" to work due to imminent danger.“As we enter the season prone to extreme weather conditions, it is vital that all employers remain mindful of the safety and welfare of their workers,” the Federation of Freedom Workers said in a statement on Thursday. The group cited the Occupational Safety and Health Law and the Labor Advisory No.
The group also stated that employers may also provide extra incentives to workers who reported during weather disturbances or other potentially harmful scenarios.“We encourage all employers to take this advisory seriously, considering the unpredictable nature of weather disturbances, and to promote a safe working environment in which employees can make decisions without fear of negative consequences when their lives or safety are at risk,” the FFW said.
