The management of Gregory University, Uturu, in Abia State, has alerted the public about the activities of some criminals who are duping unsuspecting

In a statement made available to Daily Post on Monday, the institution said that one of the fake agents who operate under the name of Dr Mrs Stella B. Dennis is currently using a phone number and email address to defraud unsuspecting admission seekers and their parents with the promise of admitting them into the courses of their own choice at the university.

The statement signed by Sleek Ogwo, the Deputy Registrar, Communication and Strategy, disclosed that the impostor had duped victims of various sums, claiming to be a genuine staff of the private university. The statement reads in part: “Sequel to this ugly development, Management of Gregory University Uturu wishes to reinstate the obvious fact that, in keeping with our established tradition, all protocols for admission into the institution for the forthcoming 2023/2024 academic session will be conducted either in person at the university campus, which is located at Amaokwe Achara Uturu, or via our official portal. www.gregoryuniversityuturu.edu.ng.

“Subsequently, members of the public are advised to disregard all solicitations from faceless individuals, groups, and organisations whose stock in trade is to fraudulently obtain monies from unsuspecting people, but rather report such activities to law enforcement agents.” Ogwo further disclosed that the school management has already petitioned appropriate security agencies about the nefarious activities of the criminals, adding that arrangements are being made to formally open the admission window for the 2023/2024 academic session.
