Grammy Award Winner, Angelique Kidjo To Perform Her 40th Music Anniversary Concert
The grammy award winner singer of Mama Africa accompanied by the Chineke Orchestra and other special guests will serenade fans at the 5272-seater capacity London center. The concert will mark the first performance of her year-long world tour which will include Australia, Asia, Europe, South America before concluding at the New York’s Carnegie Hall in 2024.
Kidjo’s London performance is part of the EFG London Jazz Festival celebrating one of Africa’s best-known artists who made TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2021. Last May, Kidjo received the Polar Music Prize 2023 Award. Speaking of the artiste, Managing Director, Polar Music Prize, Marie Ledin said “Angelique Kidjo is an inspirational artiste. She constantly explores and challenges , and is one of the greatest singer-songwriters in international music. We are thrilled to be recognizing her talent and shining a light on her important work with the Batonga Foundation.
The ceremony and banquet took place at The Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden. Previous recipients of the Polar Music Prize include Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, Chuck Berry, Ennio Morricone, Led Zeppelin, Patti Smith, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Elton John, Miriam Makeba, Wayne Shorter, Sofia Gubaidulina among others.
