PUTRAJAYA: The Government will work to tackle online menace like fake news, as it improves the nation’s access to the Internet under the National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan (NFCP).

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission was studying measures to prevent online connectivity from being used for nefarious means.

“But this is also an area that the MCMC is looking at very carefully, and I hope to announce some ideas to deal with such problems, ” he said. He also said the government was continuing to work on a law that could be used to curb cyberbullying and was speaking with relevant ministries.
