The Lagos State Government has called on members of the Nigeria Police Force and youths to show mutual respect and improve their relationships to foster peace in the state.
“The youth population in the state should see the police as their friends and accord them the necessary support and respect required. Men of the Nigerian Police Force should also be civil while carrying out their lawful duties and Nigerian youths should be treated with respect and understanding as stated in the country’s constitution.”
On her part, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, said, “This is an opportunity for the Lagos State Police Command to explain its operations and principles to the youth, enlighten them on what constitutes criminality, establish an effective communication channel and clear all doubts about its integrity and effectiveness.”
Also, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, commended the government for the initiative which he said would foster a harmonious relationship between youths and police. All rights reserved.
