The government is seeking a

“better solution” to the alleged onerous contracts with two Metro Manila concessionaires, according to a Palace official.Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said it would be a “big win” for the nation if the water problem would be resolved in favor of public interest. So far, he said the water issue was still under review by the President and other concerned government agencies.

“Currently, the President, together with concerned agencies, is still in the process of reviewing practical and legal consequences of the situation in order to come up with a better solution to this water issue,” he added. He also lamented that the country’s sovereignty had been bargained away in the government deals sealed in 1997 with the two concessionaires.
