Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has accused her former manager of misappropriating her music royalties. The authorities have issued an arrest warrant for the manager, who faces legal charges for failing to pay Chinwo her due share.
Nigeria n gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has taken legal action against her former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu , alleging that he diverted $345,000 in music royalties . Following Chinwo's accusations, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) in Nigeria filed a motion to compel Onyedikachukwu's appearance in court and obtained a warrant for his arrest from the Lagos State federal high court.
Onyedikachukwu is scheduled to be arraigned on January 24, 2025, for allegedly failing to remit Chinwo's rightful share of music royalties earned from her online platforms and concerts.The EFCC detailed in an affidavit supporting the application that Chinwo had lodged a formal complaint against Onyedikachukwu. The Commission stated that its attempts to apprehend him had been unsuccessful, necessitating the application for an arrest warrant. Justice Alexander Owoeye granted the application on Thursday.Recall that Chinwo was signed to EeZee Conceptz record label, owned by Onyedikachukwu, in 2017, after her victory in the second edition of the Nigerian Idol. News reports in September 2022 widely circulated about Chinwo's departure from the record label due to a disagreement concerning financial matters
