SIBU: A General Operations Force (GOF) member has been arrested for allegedly using falsified documents to apply for a personal loan from a licensed moneylender.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the moneylender received six copies of the documents on July 25 from the 32-year-old suspect who was seeking a RM5,000 loan."The complainant found that the suspect had altered his identity card number. He believed that the suspect was trying to cheat him by submitting false documents to apply for the loan and came forward to make a police report," he added.

ACP Stanley said that the suspect, who is from Daro and based in Lahad Datu, had admitted to forging the documents. "He wanted the money for his own use as he had been suspended from duty on March 21 for drug abuse," he added. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and Section 511 of the same Code for attempting to commit the offence.
