Go out, cast, defend your votes, TMG urges Nigerians vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
The Transition Monitoring Group, TMG, has urged Nigerians to go out en-masse and cast their votes in tomorrow’s governorship and State Assemblies’ elections, and to also ensure they defend their votes by keeping an eagle-eye on the process and the results as they unfold.
According to the Chairman, TMG, Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, who said the group was concerned about the low voter-turnout recorded in many states in the just concluded February 23rd Presidential/National Assembly elections, this Saturday’s election will be more credible if more people participate and protect their mandates.
Also challenging political gladiators and security agencies to conduct themselves peacefully and ensure the sanctity of the electoral process, she said: “The conduct and activities of political gladiators in recent times pose a serious threat to the sanctity of the electoral process. “We are also displeased with the level of partisan allegations made against the security forces especially the military. We continue to insist that our elections are overly militarised with dangerous consequences for our democracy.
