NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian claimed restrictions in her state are 'some of the harshest that Australia has ever seen' but coronavirus cases are failing to drop due to rule-breaking residents.
The Premier indicated"we haven't seen the worst of it" as she confirmed a further three COVID-related deaths during her daily press conference.
Comparisons were also made between the lockdown in Sydney and the harsh restrictions recently introduced in Melbourne and New Zealand, as they battle their own COVID-19 outbreaks linked back to NSW’s Delta explosion. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews this week introduced a curfew for metropolitan Melbourne from 9pm to 5am each day and ordered the closure of playgrounds, basketball courts and skateparks, while takeaway food services are barred across the Tasman.
